Starting out

Lots of people who made politics their career started out by contesting student elections.   I fought one within three months of enrolling  in Edinburgh in 1970 , and Glasgow has a long tradition of campus  democracy  , including one incident in which a ballot box was stolen - something I blipped about back in 2011.

I was in Glasgow today doing a couple of things around the University and couldn't resist blipping this , as it is election time there again.

Two days ago - on the 28th - it was also 50 years  since polling day in the February 1974 election, the first national election in which I was active.
