Whitby

We're having a few days away at the coast, staying near Whitby.  Given the damp weather, we left home late and drove through to a house reclamation shop near York, but we didn't manage to find anything worth spending money on.

From there we drove towards the coast, stopping off for a cuppa at a farm shop, and arrived at our cottage late afternoon.

We drove into Whitby to have a quick wander before going shopping, but it looked very murky in the distance and rained on us.  We decided to have a drive around and remind ourselves of the town rather than go for a walk, and we ended up near the abbey as the rain stopped.  So went went for a quick walk to take photos of the abbey in the dark and then realised that the rain had changed its mind, and so we got the full force of rain and wind into our faces as we returned to the car.

Managed to see a Tawny Owl that stopped to have a look at us as we made our way back to the cottage.  We don't think we've seen one in the wild before, despite at least one living in the wood behind our house!

Pizza for dinner, hopefully the weather will be more kind tomorrow.

The extra is the radar array at RAF Fylingdales which is part of the UK/US ballistic missile early warning system.
