Church House, Loose

I’m reluctant to say too much as Nogbad who lives around these parts may beg to differ.

After being with Doreen this morning we wanted somewhere different to walk other than tramp the streets of Bearsted and Mote Park again.

It was partially successful in that we walked to Loose. The walk there was nothing special around the outer edge of Maidstone. Loose itself is a fine old village with many wonderful houses, surrounded by more modern houses.

The walk back was better, passing through Maidstone’s municipal cemetery; seen it from the road many times but never been inside in these 48 years.

Spent a little time looking around the outside of All Saints, Loose. This was a view of Church House from the Churchyard. It is thought that the house, a late 15th or early 16th century hall house was the first parsonage.

It looks timeless in mono, I tried not to have any evidence of modernity in the shot

In the churchyard is a 1,500 year old yew, one of the oldest in the country
