Warring Waxeyes

This was a dispute over the ownership of the honey water, which is close by out of shot. The one on top is shaking his wings in the usual threatening manner.

The battle went on for several minutes, with the pair of them flitting wildly among the branches of the plum tree. Each time they engaged I heard a burst of sharp clicks, perhaps made with their beaks. Meanwhile, two others sat in the tree calmly preening themselves.

More detail in large.

Zosterops lateralis, waxeyes, silvereyes, white eyes, tauhou.
