Carneddau Snow

It may be March and officially meteorological spring, but the temperatures and the view towards Eryri tell a very different story.

Snow has fallen in several areas of Wales, and the high Carneddau are covered in white once more. We don’t venture south into Eryri proper as the sky is just so threatening and we suspect we’ll see nothing of the mountains, but here, high above the coast, the view across the valley sees Carnedd Llywelyn and Carnedd Dafydd white above the greens and browns of the hills.

We wait, hoping the sun will shine through the cracked clouds onto the white, but in the end, it’s just a tiny sliver of the snowfield that is illuminated - majestic but foreboding.

And in extras there’s a buzzard caught in flight - a surprise appearance hence the wrong lens and settings, but I rather liked it against the snow-dusted foothills.
