Romanian beaded Easter eggs

The theme of Mono Monday this week is sphere and/or ovoid, so I thought of the two beaded Easter eggs I bought from a market in Romania back in 2016, when we visited our youngest daughter, Laura, who was teaching in a British school in Bucharest at the time. In some parts of Romania, the tradition is of painting eggs, using different geometrical and floral motifs. However, beading is another technique that is used, and doesn’t limit itself only to Easter eggs, but is also widespread in folk costumes, belts and jewelry. Every colour on the Easter beaded eggs has a certain meaning: yellow symbolizes the light, the life; red is the symbol of love, fire and blood; white represents purity, while blue is for the sky and health. Green symbolizes nature coming to new life and is also the symbol of fertility. I’ve added an extra in colour.
So my morning was spent faffing about with these, Duolingo and piano playing. R was out at a retirees lunch, but in the afternoon, it being another very warm pleasant day, we went cycling on the bike trail, starting from Peterson cartridge factory (now repurposed into apartments and a brewery), and headed north for 13 miles return. Quite a few people were out enjoying the sunshine, and in places on the way back it got quite busy, between cyclists and a local high school cross country or track team running for practice.
