Another day, another walk

This time we were just south of Golspie exploring the dunes near the old ferry crossing and Loch Fleet. Berry kept veering off beachward but I'm afraid I didn't permit a great sand throwing fest today as I really didn't want yet more sand in Mvanwee. There's a limit!  We heard our first skylarks though. The season is turning.

We had a lot of time before a late ferry crossing so headed up from Golspie and took the slow route from Helmsdale through the flow country to the north coast. The road follows the river most of the way with little more than the occasional sheep wandering across so we just meandered along too. I think we saw maybe 10 vehicles maximum in 40 odd miles.

We parked up in Thurso near the river for a cuppa and then it was the late ferry home.
