Common Enchantments

Beach sign

A good time today at Bulls Island but it wore us out. Mostly the wind which was blowing so hard that sometimes hats went flying. Then there was pollen. The trees along the coast are about two weeks ahead of where I live so pollen was blowing around in that wind.

We walked about 8 miles and still did not see all the areas of the island. We saw over 20 alligators in a pond on Alligator Row. A few birds which was disappointing as I was hoping for a big variety. We were just a little too early for nesting season.

My friend Indy and I got separated from the rest of the group as she had to stop to eat something as she was getting a little shaky. Nothing bad but I stayed with her and the other 10 people went on along the trail. They said they were going to the beach road to get to the dead tree- boneyard -beach. But they turned off on another trail and ending up looping around toward where we had been. We followed the plan and found the beach. They ended up at a different area of the beach.

The sign says we made it. We did not find the others until they came dragging in to the boat dock. They had walked 2 more miles than us, got to the beach later when the tide was coming in so that they had to walk back the long way instead of walking on the beach.

It was all good.

I have photos on two cameras to look at so I will share them in the extras later this weekend.

It was a good day in spite of the wind and the fact that the weatherman totally missed on the 70F and the sunshine.
