Life in Sunny Dubai

Breakfast

The severe weather forecast by the Met Office came to pass today. We have been warned not to park our cars anywhere where flying objects can damage them, to keep our windows closed and not to go out unless necessary. They are expecting hail and flash floods in some areas, so plans to visit the flower farm today were scrapped.

I hadn't heard the storm through the night nor the rainfall in the morning, so I didn't think anything had happened until G said it had been raining all night. Yikes.

Our friend Miriam had been in touch yesterday asking if we could meet for breakfast this morning at a hotel close to the airport. We said Yes. So, we got ready and went to the car. The severity of the weather soon hit. It took an hour to get through one section of the route. We were so close to the hotel!

Miriam's plane landed an hour late, so the delay in traffic didn't matter. However, her luggage took ages to come out, so in the end, G's idea to meet her at the airport was genius. We got back into the car and drove to her. It was great to see her again after several months. She treated us to breakfast at the Nutella cafe.

The time to say goodbye came too soon. We walked with her to her check-in area and then had a smooth drive home until we got to the last turn into our car park, where once again, the drain was overflowing. Argh.

It's been great to be home since then and to (finally) catch up with all my blips since 15th February. I need to stop and start creating a new video, but I may have to leave that until tomorrow. The rain finally stopped in the evening.
