We viewed another house today which was about a 30 minutes walk away. 

The area the house is in has a lot of UVF paramilitary flags and plaques. It's also badly maintained and there's rubbish everywhere.

The house itself was fine, if a little small. Just move this house to a slightly better area and we'd be happy!

R questioned the estate agent on all the paramilitary symbols, to which the estate agent said "that's just Belfast". It was a funny sight, as 5ft R's questioning had clearly rattled the 6ft 3+ estate agent. He also, while trying his best to sell the area, mentioned that the locals call the area "The Village". Unfortunately for him, R had heard of The Village and has seen many people mention that it is an area to absolutely avoid.

Safe to say we're not interested in putting in an offer.

Later on, we overheard someone just outside our flat telling someone about how he had just been attacked. He lost his shoe in the process of escaping and accidentally stepped on some broken glass.

We're so used to the area but we had a sudden realisation that we already lived in a dangerous area.
