Out and About

Attleborough

Met up with my brother in Attleborough last night.    We wandered round the village in the morning before the funeral  service that we'd travelled to Norfolk for.
Next door to the very old ( 1500s) Griffin Hotel where we stayed the night was the even older St Mary's church .  Some interesting murals inside dating back to the 1500s . The church is very proud of it's Rood Screen that you can also see here. Their website says:-

The Rood Screen, built by the Ratcliffe family around 1475 to separate the collegiate from the parochial part of the church and so excluding all but the College of Priests from the east end of the church. The screen stretches continuously across both the nave and aisles and is constructed of oak and is one of the best examples in the Country.
