Show And Tell

The original title of tonight’s entertainment at The Lowry was “The Horne Section Hit Show”, but an extra letter was illuminated during one of the songs towards the end of the second half. It was relevant, as the song was about how disappointing the singer’s life was!
Alex Horne may be better known as the co-host of Channel 4’s “Taskmaster”, but this evening was all about his band and was a mix of songs and comedy, with some magic and dancing thrown in for good measure!
Quite a surreal evening, but very funny and most enjoyable. As we’re out in Manchester again tomorrow night, we’ve treated ourselves to a night in a hotel - the Holiday Inn Express at Salford Quays, which is only a short walk from The Lowry.
We almost didn’t get to stay here though. They phoned first thing this morning to say that a burst main meant there was no water in the hotel. We could have a refund or be transferred to another hotel on the other side of Manchester. As the whole point of the stay was to be close to the theatre, I cancelled the reservation. An hour later, they phoned back to say the water was back on and did I want to reinstate the reservation? Yes please. Unfortunately, in that time, I’d also booked a replacement hotel I found online (same chain) that was only slightly further away! They said they could cancel that one off for me so I would only be charged for the one stay!
Good - but slightly chaotic - customer service. Though I might reserve final judgement until I see what actually appears on the credit card bill next month!
