It started so well…..

Jenny left late morning for the hour’s drive up to stay with her sister. They are going to go to the cemetery at the church where their dad was the minister to plant snowdrops on the grave where Elspeth’s husband is buried and at another plot where Jenny’s husband’s ashes will be buried.

Despite a night of disrupted sleep of approximately 5 hours, I thought a walk would be a good idea. Mr C and I drove to the moor cross-roads where we parked the car and set off up a lovely, if muddy, track. After about 1.5 miles we had to leave it and yomp across boggy moorland, (ankle deep and from there, wet feet) and climb steeply up through thigh high heather to the objective, Shirlaw Pike near a forest above Longframlington Common. I am pleased with 13000 steps and over 5 miles of very rough demanding terrain.

We came back the same way and really had to hurry as #3 daughter was arriving at 5.30 to drop off Nathaniel who is staying the night while she and Luke have a night in a nearby hotel. (#3 had to drop Ella at the airport at 4.30am for her flight to Geneva with the school ski trip).

As soon as I got in and changed out of the wet clothes I had to start making food. It was tofu, broccoli, yellow pepper and spring onions with noodles. The sauce was tamari, sherry vinegar, tamarind sauce, maple syrup, ginger and garlic. Nathaniel loved it. Mr C and I had some cashews on ours.

Now we are going to play a board game of Who Knows Where?
