Church on Sunday

St Germain in Scothern to be exact. I haven't really been to church, other than to get my Blip of course.

Both Brian and I fancied going somewhere different to find a Blip instead of just going to one of the usual places.

We drove out to the village of Scothern. There's meant to be a nature reserve locally but it was likely to be waterlogged, so we didn't go there. We didn't see any signs for the place so we're not sure where it is...

A map at a nearby bus stop showed a windmill, but we couldn't find it. Turns out that it no longer exists as anything more than a bump in a ploughed field. We had a good walk to look for it though.

Interestingly, St Germain was a 5th century bishop from Auxerre in France, and St Patrick (whose Saints day is today) was a pupil of his. There are stained glass windows dedicated to both saints in the chancel.

We are home now and watching FA cup football. Chelsea v Leicester, then later, the Big One - Manchester United v Liverpool at Old Trafford!

Happy St. Paddy's Day to all who celebrate it.
