Bass Rock

Apologies for the One Day Late Entry but this would not load yesterday nor when left overnight. We have been having problems with broadband in our area, to great dissatisfaction, especially of those working from home. We are assured that from today service will be resumed but it does rather spoil the joy of the text.

This super view of the Bass Rock is from our table at Drift Café where we enjoyed our Christmas gift from B, S & the Flumlet. We both chose the All-day Breakfast, though I declined the beans (even though they were home-made) and was rewarded with an extra sausage which, like the black pudding, portabello mushroom, bacon, tomato and egg, were quite delicious. We rounded it off by sharing an enormous piece of lemon drizzle cake, served with extra lemon curd. With the coffee and orange juice (made from rejected fruit) it was the most enjoyable meal.

Suitably replete, we stood outside admiring the view, watching a flock of eider duck, gulls whirling, a Dutch vessel heading out to sea, then drove along to Dunbar, to potter round the harbour. The extra bird I could not resist, juxtaposed against the information board at the harbour wall. Not a species I recognise, but...

We came home cross-country along known (and unknown) roads. I've had a lovely day, thanks, kids.
