Cooter

Florida is home to several species and subspecies of cooters, Pseudemys. It seems that I'm fairly adept at identifying a turtle as a 'cooter' but not beyond that. River cooters, Florida cooters, Florida red-bellied cooters, Suwannee cooters and Coastal plain cooters all make their homes in our state. This one was happily sunning its self at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.
