Fern

Ferns have long been important in New Zealand and abound the landscape. A number of species were traditional food sources for Maori, and the silver fern was used for medicinal properties. Colonial settlers pressed ferns and sent collections in albums back to family and friends in Britain.

Today I've spent time doing some family research and managed a backblip from my time in Whakatane and Gisborne. Hopefully I'll be able to get a few more up over the next couple of days.

Thank you for your comments, stars and favs for yesterdays winter frost, greatly appreciated :)

Backblip - A Mother's Lament - it is rather long and quite sad, tissues may be needed....

Time to pull the curtains and get on with tea, no idea what we're having tonight.

Happy Sunday everyone :)
