Barracks dormitory

From the outside Hyde Park Barracks is a handsome building, originally built to house convicts. Some of them probably worked on the construction of this and other handsome early colonial buildings in Sydney.

Inside, life in the Barracks was grim. This is a reconstruction of a dormitory, with canvas hammocks strung close together. Not very handsome at all.
