The South Sound

The plan was to drive into town and walk down the South Sound, on the sea ice. Once we came back we'd do a bit of shopping and go to Cafe Sigrid for some hot chocolate and a cake. That plan didn't work.
Once we arrived we could see that no-one was out on the ice, and it had the look of old, slightly soggy ice. So we changed our plans and walked on the land instead. This was a shorter walk than expected, but we took it in our stride and then headed off for our coffee and cake. The main picture is the South Sound + Jan + a couple of birch trees + the jetties for the summer boats. I'm sure the ice was safe, as you can see in Jan's blip, where I'm standing on the ice to get a picture of the new hotel (extra). However, it just didn't look inviting and we listened to our intuition.
In my extra you can see three important buildings in Härnösand. The cathedral, finished in 1846, the swimming pool, built in the 1960's, and the new hotel, to be completed in 2025. One building for each century!
Yesterday was the equinox which means that for next 6 months the further north you go the longer the days are. Unless you live north of latitude 62.708 our day was very slightly longer than your day!
