Another Fungus

I found this fungus on an old decaying tree trunk whilst out for a walk this morning (another 3 miles) …I don’t recall seeing it before .. it is new keyword (tag) in my Lightroom catalogue ..so I guess it must be a first for me :-)

Google lens indicates that it is called Brittle Cinder fungus. Although this was on an old piece of tree, it can apparently infect healthy trees and cause them to rot and fall over!

We are staying at our daughter’s house tonight as we are all setting off for a little break at 5 a.m. tomorrow….
