Elsecar Heritage Centre

We had a little trip out to Elsecar Heritage Centre today. It is our daughter’s birthday tomorrow, and unfortunately she is not free, so we met up with her for coffee and cake at the tea room there. They have carried out quite a lot of work at the site since we were last there - including this fabulous heritage mural on some of the buildings, representing the mining history.

I couldn’t resist a fabulous bit of rusty machinery - so I have added that in extras.

We went on to nearby Wentworth for a nice pub lunch and a wander around the garden centre.

Quote of the day….at the garden centre, we overheard a mother explaining to a child because there were no chickens in the henhouse….”Sorry, luv, they are not there because of aviation flu”
