Burnished Bronze

The first of my modern Spencer type sweet peas in flower this year is 'Burnished Bronze'. I've not grown this variety before and was expecting it to be slightly more maroon, nevertheless it is a very strong colour. The stems are a bit short and a fourth flower would be ideal. The show is two weeks away and I'm going to need at least 100 flowering stems to enter all nine classes and have any chance of winning. Last year was a complete wash out and for the first time in many years I had nothing for the show. This year looks like being a close run thing unless we have consistently good weather.
