LOOKIN' FOR BREAKFAST

Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatus).....the drake's "hood" is relaxed and not erect like the hen's.  He just surfaced from below.  Not closely related to the Common Merganser which is in the Genus Mergus.

These two were alternately diving and resting looking for some breakfast minnows of which there are plenty in this roadside pond.  Shot out the car window, hand-held.
