Lit the fire in the workshop this evening and turned the foot on one of the large bowls. The problem with large things is with cracks in the base, either when drying or firing. Another problem might be that with diameters over 30 cms, they are close to the diameter of the kiln and there could be too much of a temperature differential across the bowl. The rim might heat up faster than the middle. Slowly might be the key word. I can set the temperature gradient on the kiln controller. Glaze firing might be a little easier, since the diameter will be slightly less. Everything eventually reduces in size by about 14 percent.
