Sandstone

There aren’t too many red sandstone edifices in Edinburgh but the National Portrait Gallery is always pretty impressive. We were up there for the opening of the ’Before and after Coal’ exhibition, which couldn’t be more timely. Chatted briefly with an ex-miner, one of quite a few who were there and were invited to shout out their names and what mines they’d worked; still very proud guys, it was quite moving. Anyway, if you happen to be in town go see the exhibition.
