A wet walk in the Abbey

A grey overcast day and quite windy.
We decided to go to the Abbey ruins in the hope it would be more sheltered as its in a narrow valley ( the Valley of the Deadly Nightshade)

There were quite a few cars there  which was a surprise. But I remembered that for many it's the beginning of the Easter holidays. Also, the 'night stairs ' is now accessible. For many years ( probably over a 100 ) the bottom set of steps were missing, the stone taken by the locals for their own building purposes in the 19th century. They have now build steps and a viewing platform to see the ruins from a different perspective.

The shop was crowded and someone was coughing so we didn't hang about , just paused long enough  for M to get his Blood orange marmalade.
We got back home before the rain arrived. .. again. Its gone very wintery. Spring hasn't lasted long
