Iceland Day 6

This trip just gets better and better. Today we photographed another attractive waterfall, the pretty church at Vik and, at the end of the day, we walked right up to the edge of a glacier where we could photograph more amazing ice sculptures in the evening light - including a large ice arch.

The day started, though, with a real highlight - a visit to the nature reserve at Ingólfshöfði. The nature reserve is effectively an island, which we reached by haycart, pulled by a tractor across the vast black sands of the estuary. We could get really close to the nesting great skuas and to the puffins.

Again, I had a huge choice of images for today's blip - including angry skuas protecting their young, and classic images of puffins with their beaks full of fish. However, I have chosen this one because I find it amusing. The one bird standing out from a group, with its mouth open and its tongue sticking out.

A very enjoyable day, finished with an enjoyable meal and a few glasses of wine, then out to take photographs at midnight of the stunning Skogafoss waterfall. What a way to celebrate the longest day.

[Back blipped because my laptop died just before the trip - and internet access was not available at all our locations.]
