Solace Day 7

Our last full day on Solace for this trip.  Well strictly speaking not a full day for cruising as we need to be back in time to use the service bay that closes at 4:00 and do various domestic things ready for the new crew joining tomorrow.  We had booked a valet and the nice man on the service bay said he would put us last on the list, so that we didn't need to be off the boat by 9:30.

Having plenty of time in hand we turned on to the Staffs and Worcs Canal to make a short trip to show Kanyl Tixel wide.  This is part of the canal that had to be dug to look like a small lake, otherwise the landowner wouldn't permit the canal across his land.  Sadly now one side is covered with an ever increasing band of Phragmites reeds.  The Canal and River Trust don't get enough funds from government to keep the system dredged properly.

The waterfowl are currently staking out territories for the breeding season,  All week we have been seeing scuffles by all varieties of waterfowl, the most noticeable being the Canada Geese.  Seeing this Greylag gander chasing another away I thought they would make a change from Canada geese.
