Thank you for the days

Robert's funeral today and it was beautiful, heartbreaking and uplifting all at once. It was a humanist service in the local hotel and an absolutely meaningful sharing of all that was Robert. The flowers on the coffin were  a marvel - a thin piece of tree bark planted with primrose, fritillaries, blues bells and cowslips which was later placed on his grave, where it will continue to grow.
After the burial in the local churchyard, with amazing views out to sea, each of us throwing in little hearted shape- pieces of bark in into the grave, it was back to the hotel for a a true celebration of his life with stories, music, tears and laughter. We  started with the Kinks and finished with Eddi Reader. played by local musicians,  all finishing with everyone getting up to dance the last waltz Irish style.
What a truly remarkable and wonderful man he was - architect, folklorist, Morris dancer, musician, adventurer, fond father and grandfather and soulmate to Finola.

And I think this might be a blip birthday, no idea how many but I shall share it with Robert - Thank you for the days Robert.
