Hailes

We went to Hailes Castle for a while today. It's a lovely set of ruins from which you can still see a lot of the structure of the former castle. There are two pit prisons, you can still stand in the Great Hall and there are lots of nooks and crannys to explore. I find when you like a place and you visit it a few times, it's usually something different about it each time that you like most. Today, what I liked most was the view across the Tyne to the fields beyond. A strong breeze was rippling the wheat in great waves across the land. I could have watched it forever.
