Palm Sunday

Sunday 24 March
A cool but sunny day today, and a great morning at church celebrating Palm Sunday, but also looking ahead to the cross. The children came in waving palm branches at the beginning, followed by the choir. David gave us a good message, and music was provided by the choir and Praise Band, who sang twice, one during communion. At the end of the service, during a beautiful postlude by Tom our organist, the altar covering, flowers, candles and bible were removed, and the small cross draped with a black cloth. The purple cloth draping the wooden Lenten cross which has stood to the side during Lent, was also replaced by a black cloth. When the music was finished, the congregation left in silence. We have done it this way for the last couple of years, and I find it very moving.
In the afternoon, We had to get out for some exercise and enjoy the sunshine at Sharon Woods.
