THE GREAT CRUSTED OWL

I went to the old Victorian cemetery today for the first time since I moved and noticed that one of the owls carved about 20 years ago out of old tree trunks has sprouted frilly fungus all over it, in addition to the King Alfred's cakes that have been there for several years. I can't identify the more recent fungi because my book is still in a box in the garage. Extra is a view of the whole tree stump. I'll have to go back and see what winter has done to the other owl.
