Border zone

Lithuania to the left, Poland to the right, this treeless strip used to be regularly ploughed to make policing the border easier. It was an interesting route for a pleasant evening stroll with EL to the lake and back. There were times, when this border was with the Soviet Union, that it would have been difficult, if not very dangerous to take this photo. That's a border post in the distance. I saw a grey shrike, a large flock of storks, fields of evening primrose, a few butterflies, as yet unknown to me, bluebells and a swan on the lake. The border runs through the middle of the lake.

We were treated to an super evening supper and we talked until almost midnight. Thank you E!

I'm waiting to find out if yesterdays butterfly was a Large or Scarce Copper.
