Well last night certainly didn't go as planned. Spike paced up and down the hall all night, scratching his rugs into  little piles, knocking pillows off the couch in the tv room, turning in circles on the bed over and over. We took turns taking him out into the dark and chilly night, watching him frantically running around scratching up the ground. We were really worried, but had no idea what to do. We dozed off and on all night listening to him pace, imagining the worst and not knowing what to do. John finally got up at about 6am and fed him, and by the time I got up a little later, Spike seemed calm but subdued.

The good news is that after an hour or so he went outside, did his business and seemed completely back to his old self, chasing his Kong and following me around as I put some clothes on.

The other good news is that I was up and down so much that my leg didn't really get a chance to hurt.

We decided to leave Spike at home and go to the Easter brunch in the neighborhood as planned.

The top picture shows some of the people who were there watching the Final Four basketball game between Purdue and Tennessee. The two boys closest to the camera are twins and the sons of our hosts. There were some other couples, including Dana and Jim, who also have sons the same age. The parents have all been friends since the kids were in kindergarten. The boys have all graduated and scattered to different jobs in different cities. They remain a close knit and very friendly group and kindly include us in some of their gatherings.

The bottom two pictures show on the left, the make-your own cocktail set up with a bottle of limoncello in a molded ice cooler with flowers in it, champagne and individual bottles of freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit and Cara Cara orange juices. On the right is the Easter Bunny carrot cake.

We went prepared for a colder chillier day, but it was lovely outside in the sun, and in fact I was too hot having dutifully worn several layers of clothes. But having complained of being too cold for weeks I wasn't about to start complaining about being too hot!.

We came home a bit early as John was worried about Spike and we were both falling off our perches following a sleepless night. Spike was just fine and we are now all on the family bed having a little nap! rest.
