Any New Roads?

The weather forecast promised sun on the day British Summer Time begins. However, the forecast for the week to come indicates little or no sun as the winds turn to the North West with a promise of protracted clouds.

Easter Sunday is marked by Easter Egg Hunts. Hill of Tarvit has an event as does Craigtoun Country Park.

We drove by the entrance of Craigtoun and traffic was queued up the length of the drive and onto the road.

Pure joy for some parents trying to placate their upset children!

We had planned a route through the Fife Fishing Villages.

Our first stop was the village of Boarhills where we came across the restored ‘Doocot’ at the end of a new road. Doocots are quite common throughout Scotland, but to come across one in this standard of preservation is very unusual. This is the subject of today’s Entry.

We arrived in Crail and drove East to the course of the Crail Golf Society. This new road passes through Crail Airfield which was built during WW2. The airfield is disused and much of the buildings remain, including the Control Tower which would make a very fine house with panoramic views over the coasts and beaches.

The runways and roads are currently used by East of Scotland Kart Club.

Returning to Crail we ventured into the Church Hall to view a Crafts event sponsored by a local Gin Distillery from Tayport.

We enjoyed our visit chatting with various artists who were exhibiting. One exhibitor remarked that she had met me before, but we did not determine where this could have been.

We did not buy any work but we did buy some cheese from the cheesemonger who had his stall opposite the Tayport Distillery stall.

We then headed home via Cellardyke and Kilkenny and encountered some more new roads including one which had four separate flood lochs along its length. It was quite easy to drive along although the rather posh motor following me had second thoughts and reversed back to Cellardyke.

I suspect that he is still to reach Cellardyke as the road is very awkward, especially in reverse.
