Disaster averted

The boys wanted to go to our local castle this weekend, it isn't open very often and today was the first day of the year its opened after the wi term break. But of course, we hadn't booked tickets and it was sold out when we got there 10 minutes after it opened. Cue tears and distraught boys. However, disaster averted, we went to our local farm park and had probably a better time than at the castle. An added bonus was the crofters who were demonstrating weaving, wood turning and wicker weaving - one of whom was a teacher a remember from school! The boys were given willow pool sticks that were made for them - the boys declared them too precious to be thrown into a stream. The husband spent a rather long time talking leather work and axe making with the crofters as well.
