A history of grandparenting in xxx objects...

Thanks to all who left friendly birthday greetings for Richard yesterday - much appreciated.
A mundane blip today. An object that often prompts me to reflect on the trivial but sometimes tricky physical demands of grandparenting.
Simone has reached the age when the bigger baby/toddler seat that we've had stored in the garage is needed. And today I needed to pick Marianna, Frieda and Simone up to go for a swim (Jack being at work). Jack had dashed off to work a bit late in their car, forgetting to leave their own baby seat behind with Marianna.
Anyway, I wrestled the heavy beast out of its dusty corner in the garage, wiped off the dirt and was reminded of how many fiddly little details there are to catch you out. The stiff little poppers on the seat cover that resist opening and closing when handled by less-than-supple fingers.  The intricate threading operation required to fit the seatbelt into the plastic housing behind the seat, as you lean over awkwardly. And that's before to you get to strapping in a wriggling nine month old who doesn't like car journeys (fortunately Marianna did that part).
After that, our swim at Ponds Forge leisure centre was blissful and relaxing - it was all worth it :-)
