Here's Looking at You

A resting male lion sussing me out.

Up early doors on a fantastic game drive, where the dawn light floods the hills and plain casting an almost surreal glow over the landscape silhouetting the trees and especially the giraffes.

Having tracked the lions we found a male with two females in tow w high was wonderful to see from the jeep as they padded past and settled.

We then tracked a cheetah which was amazing as we were on foot, following her in the bush. This was the 'tick drive' thought as we must have stood on a nest and had all to be sprayed down. The ticks just looked like dirt they were so very small.

Next up was a mother and baby white rhino who proceeded to wallow in a small water hollow. the mud here is red due to the iron in it and mum carefully steered youngster around and covered her back with mud from the pond. The baby was cuteness personified.

We then headed to the giraffes  - following up on yesterdays pregnant mother hoping a baby might have been born. we never saw it  but it was just lovely to be quietly amongst the herd in the morning light.

In the night hide now with Deb and Beth sitting with 3 water buffalo who are currently snoozing as I will in a few hours with any luck.. We are in the hide for about 16/17 hours, taking it in turns to keep watch overnight to see if anything comes in.
