Male Pheasant

This is one beautiful bird but I am convinced that as a species they should be in the Special Needs group for birds.
Apart from their appalling lack of road sense, why do they skulk into the cover of bushes and undergrowth and then call, loudly, to announce where they are?? Are they playing some Death Wish version of Hide and Seek known only to their own kind?!
