Fading Glory

The forecast for today was less favorable and we decided to visit Dunvegan Castle. Its only a 20 min drive away and we aimed (and succeeded) in arriving shortly after opening time as we suspected we wouldn't be the only ones choosing it as a  destination today.

I found it really interesting - we went round the  twice as on watching a film shown near the end we realised we'd missed a few items of interest.  We then visited the gardens - they weren't at their best with early flowers fading and later ones yet to bloom but I really enjoyed them - especially the heathers and the walled garden with its greenhouse,  garden museum and this magnolia tree.

We has visited the gardens on our first visit to Skye over 25 years ago and I retain strong memories of them and enjoyed going back.  We also visited the Quiraing on that trip which I'd forgotten until we found old photos. It's funny how your memory works and what makes an impression at different stages.

We had lunch in Cafe - very tasty lentil soup and came back to our accommodation. I suspect much if not most of tomorrow will be spent here given the forecast- however we have come prepared.
