The Edge of the Wold

Entomophily

Entomophily is the posh word for pollination of flowers by insects, and here we have a bumblebee smothered in pollen from hawkbit flowers. This one was a little torpid when I first spotted her, then suddenly woke up and began feeding actively again. I do like the pollen grains on the ends of the hairs, it reminds me of a brightly coloured fibre optic lamp.

It was back to work today after two weeks away. I was feeling a bit torpid too, definitely lacking in buzz. Refreshed after our holiday, but missing the freedom.

At lunchtime, we at last picked up the replacement car for the poor old red Volvo. So Wifie was buzzing.

Apologies once more that my comments have been so pitiful lately.
