Skinned

My dermatologist.

Biopsy today, after much discussion, after three months of watch and wait. Tiny bump on the tip of my nose, now in the hands of the pathologist. The price I am paying for decades of California sun-soaking.

This doctor is terrific. She's patient, communicates well, instills confidence, and radiates sweetness. She doesn't like pictures of herself but posed for me anyway. I tried to get her to choose the one she preferred, but she didn't want to look so I got her medical assistant's advice instead.

How come dermatologists have such flawless skin? Is it something they learn in medical school? If so, why don't they tell us their secret?
