Getting the sparkle back

A blast from the past

I went to my first crochet class this evening at Pins & Needles in Lochrin Buildings and was struck by this old sign for Boni's ice cream on my way home. I lived on Gilmore Place (along from Lochrin Buildings) for a while and used to get the odd ice cream as I was going home. I like the idea that ice cream is healthy - I'm not sure they would get away with that now! Mr Boni's (as it was then known) was apparently the first ice cream parlour in Edinburgh to offer lots of flavours and elaborate sundaes. Sadly it closed in 2002 and the site is now occupied by Pepe's Piri Piri Chicken.
