No Brainer

I sometimes think the city of Santa Rosa got a new sign maker that they just can't resist using. This one on Los Alamos Road strikes me as completely extraneous. The only way this wouldn't be completely obvious might be with someone with impaired vision in which case they wouldn't be able to read the sign. And of course one can only wonder what view is being referred to since there is quite a clear view of the hills of Annadel State Park directly ahead. I've put another one one found at the top of Los Alamos Road which seems both obvious in the case of the exposure and incorrect since the road has been fairly recently repaved and isn't anywhere near as rough as our own Wildwood Trail which has it's own set of self explanatory or entirely irrelevant signs. They're good at putting up signs; far less good at taking them down when they no longer apply. Several neighbors have threatened to take down the fire burn area sign as they feel it lowers their property values or affects their insurance rates, but I'm not concerned about the former and we were cancelled by our insurance company almost a year ago...

No Peloton ride today, but a walk down to the end of the street to take a picture of the signs and marvel once again at how, though the road is clearly reverting quickly to dirt, the county still comes round every once in awhile and dumps some hot asphalt into the biggest holes, leaving it to us to either drive over them or slalom down round the bends in the road trying to avoid them. Neither is particularly effective.

We've had another warm spring day today which saw me out in the garden pulling the odd weed (not that there aren't lots of them, just that they have to be fairly accessible as I'm not ready to kneel. I can, but it just doesn't seem like a good thing to do...) placing the plants we got at the Cottage Garden yesterday for John to plant, and sitting with Spike in his happy place in the fire garden outside our bedroom. We were just in the process of cleaning up and planting it after the fire when Spike joined the family. He doesn't want to spend time outside with John since he lost the sight in his second eye, but for some reason he likes it if I'm out there.

More rain is predicted for the weekend and it looks like the clouds are beginning to gather. Various predictions are made on when and how strong the weather will be, but I find it much more reliable to look out the window and plan accordingly.
