Sedbergh WI Bookclub

We met today to discuss With These Hands by Pam Ayres.
The view of most was that whilst her poetry is funny when you hear her perform it, reading it doesn’t work. One of the group looked at it from a different viewpoint- considering the time and attitudes when she wrote them. I do understand both views, listening was definitely better and had me laughing, but I did struggle with the prose. I can’t read the next 4 books as they are not available in audio so sadly won’t be attending again until September.
