Hetton Colliery Railway

We walked the Stephenson Trail, which follows the path of the Hetton Colliery Railway line. We did it in reverse, getting the bus to the town and walking back.

It was impossible to get to the start (really the end) because they’d inconsiderately turned it into a building site, so we started as close as we could.

At the end (really the start), there was a cafe and garden centre, where we had a can of pop each and a nice sit down. Then we walked back to base camp.

See the extra for a glimpse of a mysterious building far, far away. It was taken in Warden Law, looking north north east beyond the Gilley Law flats (the white buildings in the foreground).
