Heading For Beecher’s Brook?

After Tess got back from Keep Fat, we met Chris, Kate, Joel & Sophie at The Hawk and Owl Reserve on Shapwick Moor for a walk to the hides. It was the first really warm day of Spring and there were plenty of butterflies flitting around and lots of chaffinches on the bird feeders (see extra) as well as a pheasant tidying up busily underneath them.

We stopped at Avalon Marshes cafe for sausage and egg baps for lunch before walking out to another hide where we were just in time to see three great white egrets gliding in over the pond and into the reed beds - sadly not in time to get the camera out!

On the way back, Kate and Sophie were having fun practising their steeplechasing skills by jumping the piles of wood chips that are being put out on the footpaths. With the Grand National tomorrow, it had to be today’s blip.

By the time we got back to the car we’d clocked up over 5 miles and 15000 steps so reckoned we’d earned an ice cream.
