Discovery

A small piece of log has been moved around by various people as it has travelled from the tree where it was cut. Most of the time it has lived on a flatter surface, ie the face you can see, consequently people are unaware that fungi are growing in the crevice.

I was attracted to it by the sight of the fungi stems bending through 180º which is unusual. It does show that the plants, which were in darkness are either affected by gravity or "know" where the light is as they were not growing towards the tiny hole at the end of the log, rather they were growing as if they could force through the timber.
