A quiet day refining the program I've written to solve the optimization problem required by the genetics, suddenly got going at 19:00 when I received an email from the guy from MIT who spoke to me before Christmas about large funding for our software. He sent me an application form to complete, but didn't seem to want our previous partners onboard. This posed a dilemma: do I respond independently, or do I try to bring my "mates" back into consideration? Cue a sequence of email exchanges between people in Scotland, California and New Zealand, before I replied offering to speak to the guy from MIT.
