Three little ducklings

The morning was fine so decided to have a walk over to the pond.
Needless to say it started drizzling just after we set off. Then turned to hail. However it did dry up as we reached the pond.
We were delighted to see mum Mallard and three tiny ducklings.
They came running towards us.
Then unfortunately one if the Canada geese
came over to chase them.
Poor mum took them to hide in the flower beds on the edge of the pond.
Did notice one of the geese was sat on a nest on the island, but that too came off to join in the chasing.
They were so aggressive. I hope the little ones will be OK.

After lunch the sun came out and so have managed to get some washing dry.

Looking forward to rump steak for tea, followed by an egg custard tart I have just made with some duck eggs I got from the farm shop.
Always find duck eggs make a much richer custard than hens eggs.
